Who you gonna call? New, OG 'Ghostbusters' unite on 'Jimmy Kimmel'
Jimmy Kimmel called on all those who bust ghosts on Wednesday, Ghostbusters Day, to the surprise of the stars of the reboot.
While pumping Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon for info — who's most likely to Google herself, most likely to forget her lines (both which happen to be Jones) — the late night host asked, "Who is most likely to show up at a party uninvited?" After a moment of silence, a voice from offstage answered. "Well, I guess us," Dan Aykroyd, co-writer and star of the 1984 flick said.
He came onstage leading co-stars Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and Bill Murray who was very vocal about his support for the casting of the reboot.
"Why was this appealing to you?" Kimmel asked Dr. Peter Venkman.
"It was only 'cause I knew these girls were funny," Murray said. "This is a tough movie to pull-off because it's a big concept. There's a lot on the plate. There's a lot of expectation, and Danny and I and Annie and Ernie were just screaming, cheering like we were at a sporting event at the end of it."
Take that those anti-girl Ghostbusters remake, who McCarthy addressed on the show.
"What they don't say when they're typing is that one minute after they type that their mom's like, 'Get upstairs and take out the garbage. You're 45-years-old.'"
And with that, we leave you with a dance party — the cast of the original and the reboot busting a move to the theme song.
