#CarefreeBlackKids2k16 is the encouraging hashtag we needed

There are no words that come close to capturing the grief of seeing human lives abbreviated to hashtags. But in the wake of the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, one social media campaign is offering a light in tunneling despair.

Launched by Another Round co-host Heben Nigatu, #CarefreeBlackKids2k16 amplifies pictures and videos of black youth living life out loud. It's a celebration of our esprit, our steeze, the ritualistic way in which we've learned to fill the emptiness with art and humor, love and laughter. #CarefreeBlackKids2k16 is an homage to us, a reminder that "we gon' be Alright." Or perhaps just a prayer that we will be. Either way, these videos of black kids being carefree are so necessary.
