Hear Miranda Lambert's first post-divorce single 'Vice'
Nobody was expecting Miranda Lambert's return single to be a cheerful affair.
In the year since her divorce from Blake Shelton, she's had some impressive wins, picking up award show trophies and nabbing a new man, fellow singer Anderson East. But her new song, Vice, is a murky, regret-filled affair, as she sings about succumbing to her weaknesses.
Whether those vices are men:
"Another vice, another call, another bed, I shouldn’t have crawled out of / 7 a.m. shoes in my hand, said wouldn’t do it but I did it again / But I know I’ll be back tomorrow night"
Or booze:
"Sweet salvation on the dining room table / Waitin’ on me where the numb meets the lonely / It’s gone before it ever melts the ice"
Both Shelton and his new girl, Gwen Stefani, also released music inspired by their respective breakups. But Lambert is one of the best songwriters in the game, and Vice's gloomy heartbreak is masterfully done. Hopefully an album follows soon!
