#TBT: 'SNL's best Summer Olympics sketches

Since it's #TBT and Friday marks Leslie Jones' Olympic coverage debut, we figure it's as good a time as any to look back at Saturday Night Live's best Summer Olympics sketches. (We would have included the Winter Olympics, but sadly, we couldn't find that classic Chris Farley/Nancy Kerrigan figure-skating routine.)

5. 'Space Olympics'

This digital short from the 2008 season opener hosted by Michael Phelps illuminated the practical and budgetary complications of holding Olympic competitions in zero gravity. This one is unlikely to be proclaimed "the best Olympics ever" at the closing ceremony.

4. 'Kerri and Kippy Strug'

Strug may have sealed the gold medal for the 1996 gymnastic team with her one-footed vault landing but her brother Kippy (Chris Kattan) took the gold for the the squeakiest voice in the Strug family. But their interview got cut short by coach Béla Károlyi, who carried both offstage.

3. 'Really?!? Michael Phelps

After Phelps was photographed smoking a bong at a 2009 party at the University of South Carolina, "Weekend Update" anchor Seth Meyers defended the Olympic gold medalist and recent SNL host, questioning the hypocrisy of Kellogg's, who dumped him shortly afterward. "Really, Kellogg's? Marijuana isn't consistent with your image? Every one of your mascots is a wild-eyed cartoon character with uncontrollable munchies."

2. 'Little Chocolate Donuts'

"Little chocolate donuts have been on my training table since I was a kid," the late John Belushi proclaims in this Wheaties "breakfast of champions" spoof. (Incidentally, they're also on the training table every Thursday at Paste BN.)

1. 'The All-Drug Olympics'

This 1988 "Weekend Update" segment, which came shortly after Canadian track star Ben Johnson tested positive for anabolic steroids at the Seoul Olympics, sketch finally leveled the playing field, allowing athletes to inject or ingest anything they wanted before or even during their competitions. Unfortunately, there were some pesky side effects.
