‘Bachelor in Paradise’: Caila Quinn gets a second shot at love
Despite being passed over for JoJo Fletcher as this season’s Bachelorette, Caila Quinn finally got to hand out a date card Monday on Bachelor in Paradise.
She invited Jared Haibon, who had been out with one half of the Ferguson twins, Emily, but decided to go horseback riding with the second runner-up from Ben Higgins’ season.
The two shared a deep connection and decided to further explore their relationship, which meant Jared owed Emily one awkward conversation.
Because she thought she hadn’t been open enough with her feelings, Emily interrupted Jared to tell him how infatuated she was with him before he had a chance to begin. Oh, boy.
“Before you even talk, I do want to tell you that I maybe haven’t been as open with you as I should have been,” she said. “But I do want you to know that I like you – a lot. I didn’t think I actually would care so much, and I do – I care a lot.” Ugh.
Then Jared, probably because he wants to be the nice guy, was the conductor of an emotional roller coaster for Emily.
“I mean I wasn’t even thinking about people coming in in all honesty, but it’s hard because I knew I’d regret not going on the date,” he said. “Everything I said last night was true. You have surprised me in so many different ways. Um, but I just think… I feel like I should explore things with Caila.” Jared, come on!
At least Emily has a healthy sense of self-esteem (for the most part) to get her through.
“I love myself, and I think I’m a good catch. I just don’t get why other people don’t see that,” she cried to the cameras. “I always meet great guys who never pick me. They always pick someone else and they’re always way uglier than me so there must be something wrong with me.”
Caila and Jared were happy playing poker for kisses for all of about two seconds when the nextBachelor castoff made it to shore – none other than Jared’s… friend... er, we’re not really sure what to call her… Ashley Iaconetti.
“I’m Ashley. I’m back in Paradise because I’m still in love with Jared,” she confessed to the cameras. “It’s been like an up and down situation for a year. He sends me roses. Sometimes we kiss, and sometimes we don’t. Sometimes we sleep in a bed together.”
Ashley I. hadn’t told Jared that she was coming, and it seemed her worst fear was coming true.
“I think my worst fear is Jared like literally being head over heels in love with someone,” she said. “I think that would be a lot for me to deal with,” Oh, Jorge, get the tissues stat.
On Tuesday’s episode, Ashley I.’s levee breaks and the tears begin to fall. “It’s so hard to keep it together, and I just want to keep it together,” she tells the twins through her tears.
“Seeing Jared with Caila, I just feel so backstabbed,” she confesses to the cameras. Here’s hoping your electronics are water-proof.
Bachelor in Paradise airs Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
