Amy Adams talks to aliens in the creepy 'Arrival' trailer

Smart science fiction movies are hard to come by these days, but it looks like Arrival may be just what we were looking for.

The newest movie by Sicario director Denis Villeneuve boasts an impressive cast -- Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker -- and possibly the most eerie-looking alien spaceships we've seen.

In the first full-length trailer for the movie, linguistics expert Louise Banks (Adams) is brought by the U.S. government to make first contact with one of the mysterious alien ships that have landed around the Earth. Shepherded by Renner's mathematician and Whitaker's U.S. Army colonel, Adams starts to make sense of the aliens' strange language -- but not before the world powers start squabbling over the visitors and edge humanity closer to a global war.

Arrival is set to hit theaters Nov. 11.
