Khloé talks Lamar's addictions on 'Keeping Up': 'Nothing's gonna wake him up'
Keeping Up with the Kardashians showed the heartache of addiction on Sunday.
Last November, Khloé revealed to Natalie Morales on Today that she was told Lamar Odom had just four hours to live after being found unresponsive at a Nevada brothel in October. But his unexpected recovery has been peppered with reports that he might be falling into old habits. On KUWTK, Khloé voiced growing concerns for the former basketball star.
"Ever since coming back from Cuba, I've been so worried about Lamar," she told the cameras, despite her efforts to "keep him busy with positive things" and "surrounded by positive people."
Though Odom had ambitions of going to a training facility in Santa Barbara where "a lot of pros and guys that would be pros work out," Khloé questioned his ability to commit.
"Basketball is obviously Lamar's passion and love," she said in an interview. "And anything that's positive and uplifting, I'm all for, but Lamar hasn't followed through recently with so many things. I need to see some consistency and a little effort on Lamar's part. Going to a basketball camp is a big step, and I don't want to set him up for failure."
Khloé confided in her younger sister, Kylie Jenner, that Odom admitted he was experiencing "really bad cravings."
"Lamar's been really honest about the thoughts he's been having," Khloé revealed to the cameras. "But at the same time, my answer to that is, 'I think you should see someone that could help you with this,' but Lamar won't do that."
The situation worsened when Lamar's friend told Khloé he was associating with the wrong people.
"I'm just at a loss of like, 'So what do we do anyway?'" she told the friend over the phone. "I've tried every single thing. Nothing's gonna wake him up. That's where the biggest problem is. I thought he was really gonna change, but this is Lamar."
When she was with her sisters, Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, Khloé shared that Lamar took "five steps backwards."
"I said, 'You know you could die right now, right?'" she told Kim.
Kim advised her to try and devote less energy to the situation, and Kourtney spoke of the peace she's gained since deciding not to tell her ex, Scott Disick, who has also struggled with substance abuse, what to do.
"And it feels so good to let it go, but it's hard because it's a thing that you don't want the person to die," Kourtney told her younger sister.
"Well, that's just what's gonna happen," Khloé shared. "I feel really strongly there's only one outcome."
Keeping Up with the Kardashians airs Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on E!.
