Steve Aoki has been at the forefront of electronic dance music for the past two decades. So it's only fitting that the tireless DJ is the subject of a new documentary that is as dynamic and unpredictable as he is. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead, now streaming on Netflix, follows the EDM superstar from festival stages to intimate gatherings at his family home in Japan, centering on the complex relationship he shared with his late father, Benihana founder Hiroaki Aoki.

Now touring abroad before touching back down stateside next month, Aoki shares a playlist of current favorites with Paste BN:

This is my go-to jam at the moment and another vibey one for my summer playlist.

My latest offering to the world with Walk the Moon, who really deliver the lyrics of what it's like to be on the road and want to come back to the people we love. Got the tropical flavoring all over the drop.

"I'ma show you how to love again!" This is the ultimate singalong song right now. Drop it anywhere when you want people to bounce all over the place and sing this one.

ILYSM, Steve Aoki and Autoerotique 

Off the 4OKI EP I released in July. Super-fresh, underground vibes where we sampled a classic Brandy vocal and reinterpreted it into this emotive house record. It's a sunset track, for sure.

Pokémon Theme Song, Pokémon 

I’ve actually been playing this in my set and you would be surprised how happy this makes people feel. With the Pokémon Go fever, if you play this one randomly at a party, you will be loved by all.

Hop Out Da Phantom, Bok Nero (feat. Jahlil Beats) 

Bok Nero is an incredible rapper we signed to Dim Mak and I love this track. Bok Nero and Jahlil Beats created such a massive track.

What We Started, Don Diablo, Steve Aoki and Lush & Simon (feat. BullySongs) 

For summer 2016, I had to produce a summer anthem and I did it with Don, Lush and Simon to make this one. This is a song about us: our world of electronic dance culture. I've been closing out all my sets big and small through this summer tour with this one and it helps make this summer unforgettable watching the crowd go off.
