'The Tonight Show': Jimmy Fallon makes a cutout of Michael Phelps' game face
Michael Phelps got to sit in the guest chair next to the man behind the Ryan Lochte impression he loved so much.
The Tonight Show host had something up his sleeve for the retired Olympian on Thursday — a cut out of the face that deserved its own place on the podium.
"I always know there's two cameras in the upper right hand corner right before we walk out," Phelps explained. "And, I'm sitting there spitting water, like 'Man, what is going on?' And as I'm making a face I was like, 'Yep, that's on camera.'"
Fallon thought the face was incredibly intimidating.
"I can't even do this interview," he joked. "I'm so freaked out about this dude behind me cause not only is he gonna beat me swimming, he's gonna murder me as well."
At least Fallon can rest easy knowing that face has been put away, since Phelps will no longer be competing.
"Coming back how I did, going through the ups and downs that I had through the comeback," Phelps said, "there's no better way to cap off a 24-year career and, being able to have Boomer and Nicole (Johnson, Phelps' fiancée) in the stands..."
In addition to volunteering with the swim team at Arizona State University and doing work with the Michael Phelps Foundation, the former athlete will also be busy running his son's Instagram account.
He will probably opt for golf, though, instead of Egg Russian Roulette. Spoiler alert: His performance in this Tonight Show game certainly wouldn't have earned him his 24th Olympic gold medal.
