Chrissy Teigen bashes 'oriental salad dressing' on Twitter
Chrissy Teigen encountered some offensive airplane food on her last flight — and we're not talking about some stale peanuts or gross mystery meat.
The host/model took to Twitter, her preferred medium for expressing displeasure, to blast an in-flight salad that was served with "oriental" dressing.
"I really really really really clearly am not a PC type of gal but I'm a little weirded out at the oriental dressing option on my flight," wrote Teigen, whose mother is from Thailand.
She dismissed the word as ignorant, and while she'll give a pass to people of older generations, who were around before "oriental" was more widely seen as offensive to people of Asian descent, she's not okay with seeing it on a dressing packet
She then ventured down the Twitter-troll rabbit hole, responding to comments and explaining her position.
The tweetstorm soon turned into Teigen defending why she didn't see "oriental" as an offensive slur.
The moral of this messy story: salad dressing makers, it's probably time to brainstorm some new names.
