Lupita Nyong'o dazzles in purple at 'Queen of Katwe' premiere

Lavender rules!

Lupita Nyong'o owned the red carpet at Tuesday night's Queen of Katwe premiere in Los Angeles.

The actress, who plays the mother of a young Ugandan chess champion in the movie, wore a flowing lavender gown by Elie Saab with matching head wrap. The Lancome ambassadress also matched her shimmering eyeshadow to the lilac ensemble.

Can we just say gorgeous?

Apparently, we aren't alone. Fashionistas loved the look.

Her fellow cast members and the real-life people who inspired the Queen of Katwe story joined Nyong'o at the premiere. And some, including co-star David Oyelowo, brought their families along to the screening of the Disney movie, which opens in limited release Friday and more theaters Sept. 30.
