Zayn Malik’s latest duet is a collaboration with Versus Versace
Zayn Malik is continuing to take his career in a new Direction. After releasing a line of merch at ZaynMalikStore.com earlier this year, the now solo artist and author is collaborating on a collection for Versus Versace, the high-fashion house’s sibling brand.
Gigi Hadid’s beau will also be the face of ZAYN x VERSUS Malik, which will be available in Spring 2017, and it looks like he can extend a thank you to his supermodel, butt-kicking GF for his new gig. Donatella Versace explained that she got to know the musician when the two started dating.
“And he impressed me very much,” Versace told The New York Times. “He was so mature, so thoughtful, treated her like such a gentleman. They are very nice young people, a lovely couple, in fact. And then he told me how much he loved fashion. It was then I knew he was the right face for what I had in mind.”
Versace also said teaming with Zayn was one way to reach his followers, which tally to more than 15 million on Instagram and more than 20 million on Twitter. Malik who wore metal arms by Versace to this year’s Met Gala, expressed his excitement about the opportunity in an email to The New York Times, sharing he’s “always wanted to design clothes.”
“I like to learn about things I’m interested in,” he wrote, “and I enjoy being around creative people so I think it will be cool.”
Malik and the brand announced the collaboration on social media.
Versace said she predicted Malik would be just the first of many artists she'd collaborate with in the future.
