That time Emma Stone played tambourine for Prince after a minor foot injury

Nothing can stop Emma Stone. Not even glass in her heel. Especially not if she has the opportunity to play tambourine for Prince.

The La La Land star covers Vogue this month and shared an anecdote about the time she cut her foot at a party, like we all do. But because she's Emma Stone and not you, the party was the afterparty for the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary special, and she soldiered through a bleeding foot in order to play tambourine for Prince.

“I’d taken off my shoes to dance because I am one of those people who dance at parties,” Stone explains in the cover story. “And I stepped in broken glass. It was embedded into my heel. I walked off and was bleeding all over the place.”

The party was at the Plaza in New York, a swanky and, apparently, full-service venue. Stone said that someone from the hotel “grabbed a knife and took the glass out of my foot. I swear to God. And then 60 seconds later, one of the SNL people was like, ‘Prince is onstage. Do you want to go on and play the tambourine?’”

Do you want to go on and play the tambourine? Of course she did. Stone ended up onstage with Maya Rudolph, Jimmy Fallon, Martin Short, and the Haim sisters while the great musician played on.
