Barack Obama tells Samantha Bee a ‘spooky story’: ‘Trump could be president’

In her annual – OK, so it's actually her first – Halloween interview with the sitting POTUS, Samantha Bee asked the tough questions on Full Frontal Monday night.

When Thriller-lovin’ Barack Obama revealed that he dressed up as "what happens when young people vote," Bee posed the follow-up question you might’ve had on your mind.

“Someone gets really old, really fast?” she asked, hinting at the way the Oval Office is known to rapidly age presidents. When Obama didn't take the bait, she pressed on, gesturing at his gray hair. “So, is that like white spray paint or fun Halloween cobwebs up there?” (Jimmy Fallon, watch and learn how to lob better softball questions at politicians).

The president said he did the interview to encourage first-time voters to let their voices be heard. So Bee turned on the vocal fry and up-talk, doing her best impression of a millennial challenging Obama to convince her to cast a ballot.

“I would hope that you’d be willing to take about the same amount of time that you spend just looking through cat videos on your phone to make sure that the democracy’s working,” he argued. (Fair point.)

Since it was the Halloween episode, Bee requested the president tell “a spooky story about what happens if people don’t vote.”

“Donald Trump could be president,” Obama said.

No matter which candidate you side with, put down that cat video viewer and make plans to vote right meow.
