Prince Harry attends first engagement since confirming Meghan Markle romance

Prince Harry attended his first official engagement since confirming his new romance with actress/activist Meghan Markle, best known for her turn as Rachel Zane on the USA Network drama Suits and for her advocacy work with the United Nations and World Vision Canada.
Ahead of Remembrance Sunday, the prince joined his grandfather Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, at Westminster Abbey’s Field of Remembrance Thursday to pay homage to the sacrifices made by servicemen, both past and present. The moment seemed poignant for Harry and Philip, both veterans. Harry served two tours of duty in Afghanistan during his decade-long service, and his grandfather served in the Royal Navy during WWII.
According to the Telegraph, Harry also took time out during the military ceremony to bond with little Harrison Degiorgio-Lewis, whose uncle, Lieutenant Aaron Lewis, was killed in Afghanistan in December 2008.
Harry's customary appearance at the ceremony comes two days after he released an unprecedented statement confirming his relationship with Markle, addressing the undertow of racism and harassment Markle has faced in recent media coverage.
"It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm," a statement issued by the prince’s communications secretary said. "He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game.’ He strongly disagrees. This is not a game – it is her life and his."
