'The Voice': Ali Caldwell remembers Leonard Cohen with moving cover

Last week marked the passing of Leonard Cohen, the legendary singer-songwriter whose moving ballad Hallelujah spawned hundreds of covers — most recently, Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton on Saturday Night Live.

But during The Voice Monday night, Ali Caldwell chose a different Cohen tearjerker to remember him with, performing Did I Ever Love You? from his 2014 album Popular Problems.

With a rose in her hand, Caldwell wowed the judges with her dramatic take on the song, earning a standing ovation from all four.

“I’m proud of you every single time,” Caldwell's coach Miley Cyrus told her afterwards. “I told you this song was a little bit scary."

"I’m happy that Leonard was able to hear this," she continued, pointing towards the sky.

Whether Cohen was listening from above or not, Caldwell has a lot to be proud of in this performance. Will fans agree? Find out on Tuesday night's show.
