Grace VanderWaal totally freaked out when Jason Mraz called her
If you ask Grace VanderWaal which artist she dreams of working with, she would quickly Jason Mraz. That's what the America's Got Talent champ told us back when she was still competing on the NBC competition this summer.
So the 12-year-old VanderWaal was understandably excited when Mraz surprised her with a phone call after she won AGT.
VanderWaal was told she had a standard phone interview, "and they were asking me the normal questions like 'How did it feel to win?', and then a voice asked, "How would you feel if Jason Mraz was on the phone right now?"
That voice, of course, was Mraz's.
"I was freaking out," VanderWaal said during a Facebook Live chat with USA Today Life. "I was on the verge of crying, because he's one of my favorite artists." And, yes, the two did talk about working together in the future, "because I feel like we have similar styles: pop-indie-ish. It was really amazing," she said.
We'll keep our ears open for that duet.
