Martin Scorsese's 'Silence' trailer is here
After 27 years of wrestling for financial backing, Martin Scorsese is finally bringing Shūsaku Endō’s classic novel, Silence, to the big screen.
Fans got the first look at Scorsese's passion project Tuesday night and, if the trailer is any indication, Silence won’t come and go quietly.
The epic, which raises questions about belief, belonging and savior complexes, follows two Jesuit missionaries (Adam Driver and Andrew Garfield) whose faith and wills are tested as they search for their former mentor (Liam Neeson) and attempt to convert the local population during a fraught journey through 17th century Japan.
Silence is slated to hit theaters this Christmas.
