'Pretty Little Liars' live forever in new app
Though teenage soap Pretty Little Liars is officially going off the air after Season 7, the drama can continue forever. On your phone.
That's right: Starting today, you can go on an endless search for A/Uber A/A.D./some other mysterious texter, via the choose-your-own-adventure app Episode, which is presenting Pretty Little Liars story lines. The app has also featured Mean Girls and Demi Lovato experiences. Episode is free to download on Apple and Android devices, but it'll cost you if you want to buy additional chapters or pick premium choices.
In the app, your animated avatar is the new girl in Rosewood, Pa., befriended by Alison and ultimately the main Liars: Spencer, Hanna, Aria and Emily. And then, SPOILER ALERT but not really, Alison goes missing, and you and the squad start getting texts from the mysterious "A." It's just like PLL Season 1.
Except it's not, because you're there, a fifth Liar who's not from the TV show. And you have your own, new secret, which has to do with a locket you wear and a boy you care about. The plot thickens!
After that, we can't tell you what happens, because it will depend on which choices you make. For example: Should you wear something casual or glitzy to a party? Should you laugh at an offensive joke? Should you play hard-to-get with a guy? Important, fate-determining questions!
The launch of the PLL stories may be what show creator I. Marlene King was hinting at during a Freeform premiere event in June when she said that Season 7 of the show is "the beginning of the end as we know it."
The first of the last 10 TV episodes of PLL will air on April 18, 2017, on Freeform.
