Seth Meyers: Trump presidency will be ‘dire’ for climate change
Seth Meyers worries that "one of the most dire consequences" of Donald Trump’s impending presidency is its possible effect on climate change, citing the president-elect's tweet from 2012, saying it was a farce.
“Obviously his statements on climate change have not been promising,” the Late Night host began on his show Wednesday, “like his infamous claim that ‘the concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese…,’ as opposed to Trump who was created by and for Russians.”
Meyers also took “A Closer Look” at Trump’s cabinet picks, including Former Governor of Texas, Rick Perry, for Secretary of Energy. The former Dancing with the Stars contestant previously said he wanted to eliminate the Energy Department.
Perry’s college transcript, as reported by The Daily Beast, didn’t provide Meyers any comfort. According to the news outlet, Perry “… took four chemistry courses and got two Cs, a D and an F. He got a C in physics. And a D in something called ‘Meat.’”
“How do you get a D in meat?,” Meyers asked appalled. “Are you a Chipotle?”
It does seem for Meyers, Perry is the giant burrito equivalent of punch lines that will feed his team of writers for a long time.
