Kate McKinnon reacts to Paste BN's Entertainer of the Year award

In case you missed it, Paste BN named Kate McKinnon our 2016 Entertainer of the Year. A few days into the new year, McKinnon reflects on the honor.

"There are many things I thought I might be when I was growing up ... a cat lady, a restorer of frescoes, one of those people who goes and teaches English in Romania. Only one came true. But I never, ever thought that anyone would call me Entertainer of the Year," she tells Paste BN in a statement. "I'm so thrilled that anyone finds me entertaining, let alone a publication like Paste BN that I read and respect. Thank you so, so, so much."

Perhaps McKinnon should have added "cranky lunch lady" to her wish list. The comedian's film career is booming, thanks to news that she'll star in an upcoming film as a scarily magical school cafeteria worker in The Lunch Witch, based on the book by Deb Lucke.

Here's how Variety describes the plot: "The story follows Grunhilda, who has inherited generations worth of magical recipes. But when no one believes in magic anymore, she is forced to apply to be a school lunch lady, thanks to her knack for cooking up foul dishes. While she spends most of her time scaring the children at the school while serving them lunch, Grunhilda accidentally befriends a shy girl who needs help both at school and at home."
