Samantha Bee: Inauguration was 'not very funny'

Like many other late night comedians, Samantha Bee makes a living making jokes about the day (or in her case, the week) in politics. But after watching President Donald Trump's inauguration Friday, Bee didn't have a lot of jokes to make.

“The whole day was swollen with lugubrious pomp and freighted with menace that left a lot of us feeling like we’d just installed Trump Emperor of Dune,” Bee said on Wednesday night's Full Frontal. “It was surreal, and frankly, not very funny.”

However, Bee did think that the concert that kicked off the inaugural weekend was "surreal and (expletive) hilarious."

"“Trump’s concert was like his cabinet,” Bee said. “Male, overwhelmingly white, and devoid of any A-list talent.”

“So far this week, our new overlord has torn up treaties, taken the first steps toward a Muslim ban, ordered the construction of his dumb-(expletive) wall and threatened to invade Chicago like his own little Crimea,” the host said, but noted that what gave her comfort was the fact that he “could only get 3 Doors Down to play at his inauguration.”
