Chanel takes Paris Fashion Week to new heights with rocket launch

Someone’s been watching Hidden Figures.

Chanel’s head designer, Karl Lagerfeld, evoked memories of the Space Race and the women of NASA with an interstellar-themed Paris Fashion Week presentation  — and the ending was a blast. Literally.

As part of the finale to the Tuesday show, Lagerfeld coordinated the launch of a massive Chanel "Space Agency" rocket ship to the tune of Elton John's Rocket Man. The demonstration was complete with smoke and faux sparks, which had the crowd inside Paris’ Grand Palais seeing stars.

Of course, it helped that actual stars were in the building, including runway stars Kendall Jenner and Gigi and Bella Hadid, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and Chanel muses Lily Rose-Depp, Cara Delevingne and Pharrell.
