Stephen Colbert teases 'Russia Week' with 'damning' new report
Stephen Colbert returned from vacation to The Late Show on Monday night, and it turns out the Russian drama is still hounding the Trump administration.
Timely enough since Colbert is kicking off "Russia Week" starting July 17 on the CBS show, featuring segments he shot during his well-publicized recent trip to St. Petersburg and Moscow.
Colbert, who has been personally criticized by President Trump, was able to delve in early during his Monday night monologue. He focused on a New York Times report stating that Donald Trump Jr. arranged a meeting with a Kremlin-based lawyer seeking information that would damage the campaign of then-candidate Hillary Clinton.
"So it's not a smoking gun, but it is a gun meeting with a Russian bullet about their mutual desire to smoke," said Colbert. "Pretty damning."
"Russia Week" will include Colbert's interview and vodka shots on the Russian late night television talk show Evening Urgant, on which he announced a vodka-fueled desire to run for president in 2020.
Along with guests, including former Vice President Al Gore, Colbert has extended an open "Russia Week" invitation to any Kremlin-connected Russia lawyer with dirt on Clinton, according to a Late Show release.
