Duchess Kate brought style and nostalgia to the state banquet for King Felipe VI  and Queen Letizia of Spain Wednesday. The Spanish royal has often been compared to Britain's queen of fashion. And rightfully so: Queen Letizia's put-together style is similar to the duchess' envious fashion sense.

The royal brought out the impressive pieces for the evening at Buckingham Palace, honoring Princess Diana by wearing her late mother-in-law's favorite tiara and earrings.

The tiara, known as the Cambridge Lover's Knot, is more than a century old, according to People. Still, on Middleton, it sparkled as if it was brand new.

The Collingwood pearl and diamond earrings also looked elegant on the princess.

Middleton, who wore a pink lace dress by designer Marchesa, paired the pieces with another token of family fashion: Queen Elizabeth II's diamond and ruby necklace.

Letizia also opted for a sparkling headpiece that belonged to her mother-in-law, Queen Sofia. She paired it with an off-the-shoulder gown by Felipe Varela, and a royal blue sash and badges of honor.
