Women are running the ship in 'Star Trek: Discovery' trailer
The new Star Trek: Discovery trailer made it very clear who would be running the ship in the CBS spinoff.
In the clip revealed at Comic-Con, Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead) had plenty of screen time as First Officer Michael Burnham, and so did Michelle Yeoh, (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) as Captain Philippa Georgiou. The women of color are in charge on this show, which debuts Sept. 24.
"Star Trek has always been a pictorial of diversity," Martin-Green said at her Comic-Con panel Saturday, as TV Guide reports. "If you say you love the legacy of Star Trek but you don't love (the diversity) then you've missed it. I encourage you to join us, come on the journey with us."
Star Trek: Discovery is set about decade before Captain Kirk's mission started in the original series.
