NYFW: Alexander Wang sent Kaia Gerber, Kendall Jenner down a street-turned-runway in Bushwick
#WangFest went to Bushwick.
Alexander Wang brought this over-the-top fashion week show and afterparty to the streets of Brooklyn Saturday night. Quite literally.
The operation closed down a street in the Bushwick neighborhood, and quickly reached capacity for guests, who lined the sidewalks behind police barricades. More than an hour after the official start time, a bus full of top models of the moment arrived. They stepped off one-by-one in Wang's creations, beginning with hot NYFW newbie Kaia Gerber.
Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner also disembarked, in party-girl looks that have become a calling card for Wang.
The show was full of clothes with Wang's attitude, albeit less exciting than in seasons past. Deconstructed shirts and minidresses were the focus -- sleeves were taken off armholes and tied across bodices. Slip dresses had lace detailing, making them appear more neglige than dress. Black pants were mixes of jean and leather.
He may be exhausting the warehouse-in-Brooklyn-style of show, but Wang's quest for the party is alive and well.
