If you've forgotten about La La Land, Ryan Gosling definitely hasn't.

The Blade Runner 2049 actor was on hand to host Saturday's season premiere of Saturday Night Live, but he was a little preoccupied with his jazz-loving character from last year's Oscar-nominated film.

"I haven’t felt this excited since I saved jazz," Gosling said. "You guys know I saved jazz, right. I did this movie La La Land and everyone was saying I saved jazz. I guess it was dying and I saved it ... For those of you who are curious I was the last person I thought would save jazz. Me! A white kid from Canada ..."

Gosling then sat down at the piano to push the point home.

Of course, Gosling didn't really save jazz, as castmember Kenan Thompson reminded him. He also got a rude awakening from a certain one of his frequent co-stars, who just so happened to have won an Oscar for her role in La La Land

“You didn’t save jazz, how many times have we talked about this," she said. "Because you didn’t save jazz. We saved jazz.”
