Duchess Kate ditched her blue maternity wear trend in favor of a forest-green Catherine Walker coat and Gina Foster hat Saturday for the royals' traditional St. Patrick's Day visit to the Irish Guards.

Kate sported the customary sprig of shamrocks, took in the annual parade and petted the Guards' mascot, Domhnall the Irish wolfhound.

But she had to skip another traditional part of the visit to the Cavalry Barracks in Hounslow, west London.

The duchess, who is due to give birth to her third child in April, passed on the customary pint of Guinness, opting instead for a glass of water.  Prince William, dressed in a black ceremonial uniform, was seen sipping some stout, however.
