ICYMI: Dad shaves locs for daughter, a soldier surprise, a deer rescue, kittens and a bear

This week, Humankind featured heartfelt parent-kid surprises, a deer rescue, and some cats, as well as a bear acting hilariously humanlike.
In Tennessee, a dad named DAndray Thomas, who watched his daughter shave her head while going through chemotherapy and radiation after being diagnosed with stage 4 nasopharyngeal carcinoma, knew what he had to do.
“Immediately after she left, I went to the barbershop,” he said. “I then drove to surprise my daughter with the tribute I made to her by joining her and shaving my head for her cause, letting her know how much I love her and that I’m here every step of the way.”By the way, his barber cut and shaved his head for free.
In Mckeesport, Pennsylvania, high school basketball player Kaylee Charles got a birthday surprise of a lifetime on the court when her mom Mary Charles, a sergeant with the U.S. Army Reserve, returned from a nine-month deployment in the Middle East.
On the topic of mothers, a group of feral cats fed by a Michigan woman began to meow loudly and lead her to a barn on her property where she found a mama cat and her five tiny kittens. In West Deer Township, Pennsylvania, another animal discovery of sorts occurred when a man named Chris Brody rescued a baby deer trapped in a fence and reunited it with its mother.
Last but not least, a wild bear in Roxborough State Park, Colorado, was caught on camera cooling off in a mud bath during 79-degree heat. Did someone say Bear Spa Day?
