A Georgia police officer became an instant hero when he saved a man’s life in a local restaurant.

Sgt. Jerrald Leak of the Gwinnett County Police Department was having lunch when a fellow customer began choking on his food. The officer, who’d been trained in a variety of medical techniques, rushed to the man’s aid and performed the Heimlich maneuver. Instantly, the food blocking the man’s airway was dislodged, allowing him to breathe, thereby averting a tragedy.
