On this week's Humankind, we met a pig family tasting freedom for the first time, a 70-year-old skateboarder, high-stakes water rescues, and superstar Adele getting emotional over a fan's good news. In West Sussex, England, a mother pig and her three piglets had been housed in concrete pens for their entire lives. The mom had been kept alive for breeding, and most of her young had been taken and slaughtered. That was until an animal rescue team organized their safe recovery. Now this sweet pig family is starting a new life together at an animal sanctuary.
In Corpus Christi, Texas, Jimmy Gonzalez built his first skateboard at the age of six. He quit skating in 1985, thinking he was too old, but resumed after fifteen years. Now, aged 70, he's still skating and hopes to continue shredding for life.
Off Australia's Gold Coast, a humpback whale's tail got entangled in shipping equipment. But a Sea World Foundation rescue team was able to delicately remove the anchor and rope using a large buoy leaving the whale free to continue its migration.
Meantime, a high-stakes watery rescue also took place in Orlando, Florida, where police saved a driver from a life-threatening situation. The man's car went over an embankment and into a retention pond after he lost control on an on-ramp. Officers waded in to break his car window and free the trapped driver before the vehicle submerged.Finally, during superstar Adele's Las Vegas show at Caesars Palace, Chris Dare and his pregnant wife, Shantelle Lord, asked the singer to help them reveal the sex of their baby.
