A stranger taking scenics with his GoPro while hiking near Portland, Oregon ended up saving a life — and capturing the entire episode on camera.

Taylor Root says he was filming while on a trail at the Columbia River Gorge when he spotted a woman desperate for assistance.

"So I'm walking, and I hear a 'Help, Help!' And there's a lady who had slipped over the edge of a cliff, probably like 50 feet down, maybe 100 feet down," said Root in a video posted on Facebook. "It was a long ways, down to a waterfall."

The woman calling for help was trying to rescue her mother, who was dangling off the side of the trail and hanging on a steep cliff covered in brush.

Root worked with the woman to bring her mother to safety.
