Gabe McCabe was swimming in the ocean at Long Beach Island, New Jersey, when within seconds he found himself 20 yards further out into the sea due to a strong rip current.Surfer Steve Houser heard the man calling for help and rushed out to help.

A grateful McCabe said he “was in trouble” and that “without a doubt” Houser had saved his life.“Such an unfortunate situation but so glad to have made a lifelong friend in the end!
