On this week's Best of Humankind, we saw an incredible race to Broadway, a hilarious pregnancy surprise, a sweet seal rescue, a very cheeky groundhog, and a 70-year-old skydiver.

About 40,000 feet over the Atlantic Ocean, Broadway understudy Mikayla Renfrow was on a Delta flight when she got a text message from her stage manager telling her she needed to be onstage in Times Square to play Jasmine in "Aladdin" that night. With four hours still left on the flight, she faced an epic race against time to make it to the New Amsterdam Theatre by 6:30 p.m. In Fontana, California, Jasmine Wallace gifted her grandmother Tonie a shirt saying “Best Great Grandma Ever.” The 32-year-old had always said she wasn’t interested in having children, so it took her grandmother a while before the penny dropped. However, her reaction was well worth the wait.

Watch an incredible race to Broadway, a touching seal rescue, an adorably cheeky groundhog, and more on this week's Best of Humankind.

While in his garden in Middletown, Delaware, Jeff Permar noticed something was amiss. After returning from a trip, it appeared some of his precious fruit and vegetables had been damaged. He soon realized the culprit was a hungry groundhog whom he nicknamed Chunk. Impressed by the animal's chutzpah, Jeff decided to share his harvest with Chunk and his groundhog friends.

In West Coast National Park in South Africa, a filmmaker and other beachgoers noticed a pitiful sight. Some seal pups had been entangled in a discarded fishing net that washed onto shore. Happily, after the net was cut, the seals were released unharmed to waddle back into the ocean.

Finally, 70-year-old Bev Cook proved it's never too late to try new things. For her birthday, her daughter gifted her a skydiving trip in Arizona, giving Bev an adventure she joyfully ticked off her bucket list.
