Loving grandma gets a long-awaited gift bag surprise
Shiela "Shay" Panecatl Ponce, a 23-year-old living in California, reunited with her grandmother in Mexico after 12 years apart.
Her grandmother, 64-year-old Laura Lopez Flores, raised Ponce for a decade in Guadalajara, Mexico, when Ponce's mother was trying to build a better life for her family in the U.S. Years later, Ponce obtained a U.S. visa and joined her mother. Having formed a strong bond with her grandmother, she missed her second mom.
Ponce planned a surprise trip back to Guadalajara in 2023 with her aunt.
