Mom moved to tears by her special birthday blindfold reveal

Merida Garcia Ramirez thought she was in for a photoshoot on her 50th birthday. Little did she know, an unforgettable surprise awaited her as she stepped into a church and removed her blindfold.
Watch the video above to see Merida’s emotional reaction to this extraordinary surprise.
Merida’s daughter, Cindy Dionicio, happens to share the same birthday as her mom. This year, the 24-year-old decided to flip the script on her mom, who had always been the one planning her birthdays in the past.
Together, the family orchestrated a special celebration not only for Merida's milestone birthday, but also for her belated quinceañera, a cultural tradition she didn’t get to experience when she turned 15.
Growing up in Guatemala, her family had very little money. Merida's father died when she was nine years old. Being the eldest of 12 siblings, Merida became responsible at a young age for taking care of them all. They didn't have the luxury of celebrating birthdays in a big way.
This surprise allowed her to feel like a kid again.
"When I started breaking the piñata, I felt like I was a 15-year-old girl," she said in Spanish.
Cindy says the sheer amount of friends, not just family, who came to the party, shows how much her mother is beloved.
"Just seeing her cry, she took like a few minutes to get it together," said Cindy.
