Rita Staniar expected to spend her 60th birthday alone at her husband Scott's hospital bedside, but she was in for a huge birthday surprise.
Scott is battling an aggressive form of cancer, and Rita has stopped working to care for him. Treatment is expensive, and the family relies on GoFundMe donations to help meet hospital fees. But Rita is devoted and ever-present at Scott's side.
This year, she felt her birthday was unimportant. But her three daughters, Elizabeth, Leslie, and Kimmy, had other ideas, traveling miles to their dad's bedside to surprise their mom on her special day.

"With all of us juggling busy college schedules, my mom never could have imagined that we would drop everything to make the trip," said Kimmy Staniar, Rita's middle daughter. "But when my aunts reached out, we didn’t hesitate. No class, no practice, no job, nothing was more important than being with our parents on my mom’s special day."
Rita's two sisters, Leslie Wulff and Elizabeth Love, set up the serial surprise, knowing how much it would mean to Rita to have her daughters with her on her birthday.
"There are no words I could use to express how much it meant to be able to make her feel special," said Kimmy. "She deserves the world, and seeing such a big smile on her face...I will never forget."
