Watch heart transplant patient's touching father-daughter dance

A father's dancing can often embarrass a young girl. However, when Ava's dad led her onto the floor in her hospital room, the 10-year-old could not have been happier.
Ava was born with multiple congenital heart defects, which resulted in her needing a heart transplant. For over 200 days, she stayed in the hospital waiting for a suitable donor heart to become available. Unfortunately, that meant she couldn't go to her school's annual father-daughter dance.
But her parents and caregivers were determined that she wouldn't miss out. So, as Ava couldn't go to the dance, they brought the dance to her.

Ava's mother did her hair and makeup while her father, Sean, waited just outside the door with a bouquet of flowers.
Upon seeing his daughter dressed up in a beautiful pink dress, Sean was in tears as he guided Ava down the hallway into a hospital room decorated like a school dance by Ava's care team at Cleveland Clinic Children’s.
Held safely in her father's arms, the dance was all that mattered, even if it wasn't the one they had planned.
