Justin Lin tapped to direct 'Star Trek 3'
Fast & Furious director Justin Lin is beaming aboard Star Trek 3.
Lin will direct the third, still-untitled installment of the Star Trek franchise, a representative from production house Paramount Studios and Lin's personal rep confirmed on Monday. Neither had any further comment.

Lin has helmed four Fast & Furious films, including 2013's Fast & Furious 6. Lin also directed the first two episodes of HBO's True Detective, which are due in 2015.
The first two Star Trek film reboots, 2009's Star Trek and 2013 Star Trek Into Darkness. have featured Chris Pine as Captain Kirk and were helmed by J.J. Abrams. Abrams is at work on Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Paramount Pictures, Skydance Productions and JJ Abrams' Bad Robot will continue to produce the new Star Trek film. The film's schedule has yet to be announced.
