SDCC: WB brings 'Suicide Squad,' Batfleck, Jackman
After LucasFilm took fans to a surprise Star Wars concert Friday night, Warner Bros had a tough act to follow Saturday morning at Comic-Con's Hall H.
As expected, the studio brought out stars, new footage and light conversation from moderator Aisha Tyler and movie stars from Man from U.N.C.L.E., Pan, Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Some of the highlights:
Stars take the stage
On the Pan panel, Hugh Jackman got the crowd excited for the Peter Pan prequel which features his nutty, over-the-top Blackbeard (whom fans saw a clip of).
Ben Affleck hit the Batman v Superman presentation, which marked his first public appearance since announcing his split from Jennifer Garner.
Superman Henry Cavill was with Affleck, and on the U.N.C.L.E. table with his co-stars from the spy movie.
For the Suicide Squad segment of the event, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne and the rest of the movie's villainous cast (minus Joker Jared Leto) made a brief appearance onstage.
Footage debut
The action-packed new clip for U.N.C.L.E. showed stylish Guy Richie footage that surrounded the entire hall.
Director David Ayer presented an impressive clip of the gritty Suicide Squad, that he said he brought right from shooting last night in Canada.
Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman showed a new, dark trailer that's now viewable online.
Some tidbits
- A reel of Warner Bros movies taught fans the the upcoming Green Lantern movie is called Green Lantern Corps.
- Snyder announced that he created an original role for actress Holly Hunter in Batman v Superman.
- Amy Adams was excited to be at her first Comic-Con.
- Affleck talked thoughtfully about how complex Batman v Superman script is, and shared an anecdote about running into Christian Bale at a costume store
