Michael Douglas to receive AARP Movies for Grownups career award

One of film's most successful seniors, Michael Douglas, is being honored by AARP.

The Oscar-winning actor and producer, 71, will be given AARP's Movies for Grownups Career Achievement Award. The franchise Movies for Grownups recognizes filmmakers, performers and movies that "resonate with the 50-plus audience," according to a press release.

Douglas will receive the award Feb. 8, 2016, at a ceremony hosted by AARP The Magazine at Los Angeles' Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Sixteen additional awards, including best actor, best actress and best director, will also be presented.

"With a career spanning more than 50 years, Michael Douglas is one of the most talented and respected actors and producers of our time," said Robert Love, editor in chief of AARP The Magazine, in a statement, adding that Douglas "has entertained and endeared himself to generations of moviegoers, which is a remarkable testament to his incredible versatility and staying power in Hollywood."
