'Spectre' has record-setting week in U.K.

James Bond is ready to save Hollywood from bad box office.

Spectre has raked in $80.4 million in its first week of international release, according to estimates from Sony Pictures. The latest installment in the superspy franchise, directed by Sam Mendes and starring Daniel Craig, brought in a record $63.8 million in the U.K. alone.

The movie, which opens Friday, is primed for a massive U.S. opening after a few weeks of faltering box office. Halloween was down about 20% from the same weekend last year, but Spectre and The Peanuts Movie are expected to turn things around.

The last Bond movie, 2012’s Skyfall, earned more $1.1 billion worldwide and opened in the U.S. with $88.4 million.
