James Bond in 'Spectre' pulls in $5.25 million from Thursday night shows

James Bond's Spectre has already left a big mark on the weekend's box office, exploding to $5.25 million during Thursday night shows, according to studio estimates.

Daniel Craig's return to Bond with director Sam Mendes at the helm opened in 3,221 locations and is expected to rock the box office this weekend.

Conservative estimates place the film at $60-65 million for its opening weekend, but the final tally will likely be far higher.

The Thursday night screenings number is even higher than Bond's last outing in 2012's Skyfall. Thursday shows took in $4.6 million three years ago on way to an $88.3 million opening weekend.

The weekend will also see the opening of The Peanuts Movie, the first big screen outing in 35 years for Charlie Brown, Snoopy and gang. There were no Thursday night screenings of the 3-D computer animated film.
