Who’s the scrappiest of them all in the fantasy movie Warcraft? The half-orc warrior woman Garona is definitely a contender for that title.

Paste BN continues its week of exclusive videos introducing the main characters of Warcraft (out June 10) with Paula Patton’s green-skinned heroine.

In the video-game adaptation, Garona is an outcast in the orc world and has to fight to survive. So when she ends up in the realm of Azeroth, she aligns with the natives against her people in the invading horde and finds an instant chemistry with Anduin Lothar (Travis Fimmel).

“After spending time with the humans, Garona realizes that they have compassionate hearts and you see a more vulnerable side to Garona,” says Patton.

The behind-the-scenes video showcases the fight training the actress went through and reveals the movie magic behind Patton’s skin color — instead of covering her in a ton of caked-on makeup, they added the green tint later in post-production.

Patton admits she didn’t truly feel transformed until she had her hair, tattoo and toothy tusks. “I put them on and all of a sudden I would start to walk like Garona and feel like Garona, and Paula started to leave the building.”
