'The Fast and the Furious' returning to theaters
Rev those engines.
The Fast and the Furious is heading back to theaters in a limited nationwide release, Universal announced on Wednesday.
To commemorate the franchise-starter's 15th anniversary, The Fast and the Furious will hit theaters June 22, the same day the film was originally released in 2001.
To date, across seven films, the franchise has pulled in $3.8 billion. The eighth chapter, Fast and Furious 8, brought Charlize Theron on board as its new villain, and is scheduled for release on April 14, 2017. F. Gary Gray, who last helmed the Universal hit, Straight Outta Compton, is directing.
