Cyndi Lauper announces 'She's So Unusual' tour
Cyndi Lauper
still wants to have fun.
It has been 30 years since Lauper shot to fame with her debut solo album She's So Unusual. To celebrate, she'll kick off a 23-date tour, starting June 12 in San Diego and wrapping up July 13 in Mashantucket, Conn.
In homage to her 1983 album, Lauper will perform all the tracks, including Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Time After Time, She Bop, Money Changes Everything and All Through the Night. The album's success propelled Lauper to a Grammy win as best new artist.
The past year has been a busy one for the 59-year-old. In addition to publishing Cyndi Lauper: A Memoir, she wrote the music for Broadway's Kinky Boots, based on the same-titled British film and book by Harvey Feirstein.
"I knew it was the perfect time to thank my fans for sticking with me through it all," said Lauper in a news release. "I'm so excited to perform She's So Unusual from beginning to end, song by song, and I can't wait to see everyone!"
