Elton John to receive BRIT Icon Award
Call it an haute couture trophy.
Elton John will usher in a new BRIT award celebrating music icons. The standalone ceremony will take place on Sept. 2 on iTV network. The BRIT awards is the U.K.'s largest music show.
According to Billboard.com, John described the inaugural award as "a tremendous honor and a real thrill" to have his life and work recognized.
"I'm really looking forward to participating in what promises to be a very special occasion," he said.
John, who canceled his European tour because of appendicitis, is expected to play some of his biggest hits.
Fingers crossed that he performs Tiny Dancer.
