50 Cent pleads not guilty to domestic violence charge

UPDATE: 50 Cent appeared in court Monday and entered a plea of not guilty for domestic violence and vandalism charges, the AP reports. He could face up to five years in jail and have to pay $46,000 in fines.

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, was told to stay away from his ex-girlfriend, Daphne Narvarez. He cannot contact her by phone or e-mail, and cannot own weapons. Narvarez and Jackson were in a three-year relationship and they have a child together.

Narvarez alleges that on June 23, Jackson destroyed $7,100 worth of property in her California condo and kicked her.

He's due in court Sept. 4 for a pre-trial hearing.

The AP is reporting that rapper and actor 50 Cent is due in court Monday, facing arraignment on charges that he attacked his ex-girlfriend, and her property.

The charges stem from a June 23 incident when, the ex alleges, he trashed her condominium, and also kicked her bedroom door open and kicked her. The woman says she'd had a three-year relationship with the star, and has a child by him.

50 Cent has denied the attack, but faces one count of domestic violence and four of vandalism. If convicted, 50 Cent could face up to five years in jail and $46,000 in fines.
