Bruce Springsteen's first tweet: 'Any requests?'

Another 20th-century superstar has joined the 21st-century digital fray.

Bruce Springsteen is personally posting on his official Twitter account, @springsteen, as of today. His first tweet: "Bruce here ... looking forward to seeing friends in Chile, Argentina & Brazil on tour next month. Any requests?"

The first responders asked for Adam Raised a Cain, Drive All Night, I'm on Fire and The River.

On Aug. 8, Led Zeppelin founding frontman Robert Plant made the leap into social media, becoming active on Twitter, Instagram and Google Plus. He relaunched his website the same day with a new logo and huge expansion of multimedia and archival material.

Springsteen and the E Street Band take their Wrecking Ball world tour to South America next month, with final stops Sept. 12 in Santiago, Sept. 14 in Buenos Aires, Sept. 18 in Sao Paulo and Sept. 21 in Rio de Janeiro.

The Wrecking Ball tour, which started in March 2012, has reach more fans in more countries than any Springsteen tour ever, and will rack up 133 shows in 26 countries for a total of 3.5 million tickets sold when it wraps up.
